Assembling furnitures without nails, screws or glue is always an interesting theme. On the principle of ecological design and reuse of traditional crafts, an assembly system is created for inheriting the traditional knotting skill.

A group of repeated 8-shaped rope knots is strong enough to fasten two or more bar-shaped components, which is a kind of ideal fitting methods. I have designed two functional objects based on this rope knots assembly system: a tale lamp and a bookshelf. Besides, both of them are also produced by using some simple woodworking joints.
